  • Melted butter – 1/2 cup (120 g)
  • Baking powder – 1 tsp. (5 g)
  • Salt – 1/6 tsp. (1 g)
  • Corn starch – 3 tbsp. (24 g)

for the apples

  • Apples – 5 pcs. (450 g)
  • Sugar – 1/4 cup (50 g)
  • Butter – 2 tbsp. (28 g)

Cooking steps:

Apples

  1. Peel the apples, remove the seeds, cut into cubes.
  2. Place butter in a large saucepan and melt over medium heat. Add apples, add sugar, stir. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, for 15 to 20 minutes, until the apples are soft and caramelized. Then remove from heat and cool slightly.

Dough

  1. Add flour, cornstarch, baking powder and salt to a medium bowl and stir to combine.
  2. Place eggs in a large bowl, add sugar, beat with a mixer into a fluffy pale mass.
  3. Gradually add half of the flour mixture to the egg-sugar mixture, then pour in the melted butter. Add the remaining half of the flour mixture, add yogurt, mix with a mixer at low speed until smooth.

Assembly

  1. Place the resulting dough in a pre-greased and floured 24cm baking tin. Place the cooked apples without syrup on top of the dough.
  2. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C (350⁰F) for 40-45 minutes. Leave the finished cake in the tin for 5 minutes. Remove from the tin and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  3. Brush the top of the cake with the remaining syrup from the apples.
