Minced Meat Savory Pie – VIDEO RECIPE

how to cook Minced Meat Savory Pie?
STEP 1

To start, preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Then, transfer the savory pie dough onto a lightly floured surface.
STEP 2

Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough into a 22 cm by 22 cm square. If you want to be precise, feel free to use a ruler.
STEP 3

Next, grease a 20 cm by 20 cm square baking tray with butter. Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough into the baking tray using the rolling pin.
STEP 4

Gently place the dough into the baking tray, using your fingers to evenly coat the bottom and sides. Don’t forget to prick the bottom with a fork.
STEP 5

Now, place the baking tray into the preheated oven at 200°C (400°F). Bake for 15 minutes until it turns a beautiful golden brown. Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.

STEP 6

While the crust cools, cut the cabbage into large pieces. Boil some salted water and briefly blanch the chopped cabbage for a few seconds. Once it becomes slightly soft, remove it from the water and drain in a colander.
TIPS: Whether you prefer white or Savoy cabbage, both work perfectly for this savory pie. So feel free to use whichever one you have on hand or prefer.
STEP 7

Peel the onion and cut it into cubes.
STEP 8

Now, cut the smoked sausage into cubes.
TIPS: If you’re not a fan of smoked sausage, don’t fret. You can easily replace it with your favorite salami or even chorizo. The choice is yours!
STEP 9

Do the same with the boiled potatoes.
TIPS: When it comes to potatoes, there are multiple ways to prepare them. You can boil them peeled, leave the skins on, or even bake them in foil in the oven. Whichever method you choose, you’ll end up with tasty potatoes for your dish.
STEP 10

Heat a frying pan over high heat and add a little vegetable oil. Fry the chopped onion for about 5 minutes until it becomes translucent and fragrant.
STEP 11

Next, add the minced meat and chopped sausage to the pan with the onion. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes, then allow it to cool.
STEP 12

Transfer the resulting filling into a large bowl and add the chopped potatoes and cabbage. Give it a good stir and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
STEP 13

In a separate medium bowl, mix together sour cream, eggs, and grated cheese.
TIPS: Pre-grated cheese is incredibly convenient for preparing a wide range of dishes.
STEP 14

Now, fill the baked crust with the filling you prepared earlier.
STEP 15

Pour the sour cream mixture on top and use a spatula to level it out.
STEP 16

Next, pop the baking tray into the oven, which should already be preheated to a toasty 180°C (350°F). Let it bake for about 25 minutes, allowing all the flavors to meld together perfectly.
STEP 17

After the baking time is up, let the savory pie cool in the baking tray for about 5 minutes. Then, remove it from the baking tray and let it cool completely. This will ensure that the savory pie sets nicely and is easy to handle.
STEP 18

To add a touch of freshness and color, sprinkle some chopped green onions over the finished savory pie. This will not only make the presentation better but also add a delightful burst of flavor.
STEP 19
