Easy Orange Chocolate Cake – VIDEO RECIPE
how to cook Easy Orange Chocolate Cake?
STEP 1
To begin, preheat the oven to 180°C (350⁰F). In a medium bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder using a fine sieve. Thoroughly mix the resulting flour mixture.
STEP 2
Next, place the eggs in a separate bowl and add half of the sugar. Beat the mixture with a mixer for 2-3 minutes until it becomes a fluffy pale mass.
STEP 3
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with a mixer. Add the remaining sugar and continue to beat until a creamy mass is formed. Then, add the orange zest and mix well.
TIPS: If your butter is too hard, a few seconds in the microwave can soften it up and make it easier to whip.
TIPS: Instead of using butter, you can opt for good quality margarine. It works just as well! But keep in mind that margarine contains salt. So, you might want to reduce the amount of salt in the recipe. Just a little heads up!
TIPS: Want to make the orange flavor in the cake even better? Just grind some sugar with freshly grated orange zest. Trust me, it’s a game-changer!
STEP 4
Gradually add the flour and egg mixtures to the butter mixture. Pour in the milk and add coarsely chopped chocolate. Mix everything until smooth.
STEP 5
Grease a 22cm round baking tin with butter. Pour the dough into the prepared tin and smooth the top.
STEP 6
Place the tin with the dough in the preheated oven at 180°C (350⁰F) and bake for 1 hour.
TIPS: Looking for some helpful advice on how to preheat your oven and prepare it for baking? Look no further than my articles “How and Why Do You Need to Preheat Oven” and “Top 7 Secrets How to Bake in Oven”.
STEP 7
Once baked, leave the finished cake in the tin for 20 minutes. Then, remove it from the tin and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
TIPS: Wondering if your cake is ready? Stick a wooden stick or toothpick into the center – if it comes out clean, your cake is done.
STEP 8
In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar and orange juice. Mix thoroughly until smooth.
TIPS: When it comes to icing, I’ve got you covered. If it’s too thick for your liking, simply add a little more orange juice. On the other hand, if it’s too thin, sprinkle in some powdered sugar to thicken it up.
TIPS: Now, here’s one more head up about icing. It hardens pretty quickly. So, make sure to use it right away to avoid any clumpy disasters.
STEP 9
Pour the orange glaze over the cooled cake and garnish with orange zest.
STEP 10
Finally, cut Easy Orange Chocolate Cake into portions and serve it with tea. Enjoy your meal!
