Best Homemade Cherry Cake – VIDEO RECIPE
how to cook Best Homemade Cherry Cake?
STEP 1
To begin, preheat the oven to 180°C (350⁰F). Start by washing the cherries and removing the pits.
TIPS: If you don’t have fresh cherries, frozen ones can be a great substitute. Just remember to roll them in a small amount of flour to prevent excess liquid from seeping into the dough.
TIPS: Feel free to experiment with different fruits in your recipes. Sour cherries or sweet cherries can be a delicious addition to your dough, giving it a unique and flavorful twist.
STEP 2
Next, in a medium bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Stir them together until well mixed.
STEP 3
In a large bowl, place the softened butter and add sugar. Use a mixer at medium speed to beat the mixture until it becomes creamy.
TIPS: If your butter is too hard, a few seconds in the microwave can soften it up and make it easier to whip.
TIPS: Instead of using butter, you can opt for good quality margarine. It works just as well! But keep in mind that margarine contains salt. So, you might want to reduce the amount of salt in the recipe. Just a little heads up!
STEP 4
Now, add the eggs one at a time to the sugar-butter mixture. Make sure to thoroughly mix after each addition.
STEP 5
Gradually add half of the flour mixture to the egg-butter mixture. Then, pour in the milk and add the remaining half of the flour mixture. Finally, add the lemon zest. Mix everything together with a mixer at low speed until the dough becomes smooth.
TIPS: Want to make the lemon flavor in the cake even better? Just grind some sugar with freshly grated lemon zest. Trust me, it’s a game-changer!
STEP 6
Grease a 20cm baking tin with butter and sprinkle it with flour. Pour the prepared dough into the tin and use a spatula to smooth the top.
STEP 7
Place the cherries on top of the dough and gently press them into the dough.
STEP 8
Now, place the tin with the dough into the preheated oven at 180°C (350⁰F). Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the cake turns golden brown.

STEP 9
Once baked, leave the cake in the tin for 5 minutes. Then, remove it from the tin and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
TIPS: Wondering if your cake is ready? Stick a wooden stick or toothpick into the center – if it comes out clean, your cake is done.
STEP 10
After the cake has cooled, sprinkle it with powdered sugar for an added touch.
STEP 11
Finally, cut Best Homemade Cherry Cake into equal pieces and serve it with tea. Enjoy your delicious homemade treat!
