Strawberry Jam Cheesecake Buns – VIDEO RECIPE
how to cook Strawberry Jam Cheesecake Buns?
STEP 1
To start, preheat your oven to 175°C (350⁰F). Follow the instructions on the package to thaw the yeast dough. Once thawed, divide the dough into 12 equal parts and shape them into balls.
TIPS: When at the store, you can conveniently purchase pre-made balls of rich yeast dough.
STEP 2
Next, grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil and line it with parchment paper. Arrange the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet. Cover the sheet with cling film and let the dough rise for about an hour in a warm, draft-free spot. Aim for a temperature of around 25°C.
TIPS: If you don’t have cling film, a clean kitchen towel can be used to cover the dough.
STEP 3
In a large bowl, combine ricotta, yogurt, and melted butter. Use an immersion blender to whip them together until smooth and creamy.
TIPS: You can use cottage cheese instead of ricotta. But remember, the quality of your cottage cheese matters. Opt for a fatty, non-acidic, and not overly dried variety. This will ensure a velvety and tender texture for your filling. Trust me, it’s worth it!
TIPS: If you’re lacking an immersion blender, fear not. Simply rub the ricotta or cottage cheese through a fine sieve a couple of times until you achieve the desired consistency. Patience pays off!
TIPS: Instead of using butter, you can opt for good quality margarine. It works just as well!
TIPS: Melt your butter either on the stove or in the microwave – whichever is more convenient for you.
STEP 4
Add sugar, vanilla sugar, and flour to the mixture, stirring until everything is well combined.
STEP 5
Now, it’s time to fill the dough balls. Create a pit in the center of each ball and spoon in the ricotta filling.
TIPS: To create a pit, you can use any object with the desired diameter, such as a small glass or even your own fingers.
STEP 6
In a small bowl, lightly beat an egg with a whisk. Add water and give it a good stir.
STEP 7
Use a pastry brush to gently brush the edges of each bun with the egg brush.
TIPS: To apply an egg brush, it’s handy to have a special pastry brush. But if you don’t have one, no worries! You can simply use the tip of a folded paper towel or even just brush the dough with your finger.
STEP 8
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven at 175°C (350⁰F) and bake for 15-20 minutes. Or until the buns turn a lovely golden brown.
TIPS: Looking for some helpful advice on how to preheat your oven and prepare it for baking? Look no further than my articles “How and Why Do You Need to Preheat Oven” and “Top 7 Secrets How to Bake in Oven”.
STEP 9
Once they’re done, take the buns out of the oven and let them cool slightly.
STEP 10
Once they’ve cooled a bit, top the ricotta filling with strawberry jam.
TIPS: Whether you prefer homemade strawberry jam, store-bought strawberry jam, or any other jam that tickles your fancy, go ahead and use it. It’ll add that extra burst of flavor to your creation.
