Next, grab a pizza cutter and ruler. Use them to cut the dough into four equal 10cm x 10cm squares.

TIPS: To cut your puff pastry, you can use a regular sharp knife or a pizza cutter. Both will do the job just fine.

Now it’s time to prepare the apples. Peel them, remove the core, and cut them into squares.

Take a saucepan and place the apples in it. Add sugar, raisins, and butter, and give it a good stir.

TIPS: Raisins should be prepared first. Before adding raisins to the filling, be sure to rinse with water.

Put the saucepan with the apples over medium heat and cook, stirring frequently, for about 15 to 20 minutes. You’ll know they’re ready when the apples are soft and caramelized.

Now, place 1 tablespoon of the apple filling without syrup on one half of the square.

Easy Apple Puff Pastries

Ingredients:

for the dough

  • Yeast puff pastry (croissant dough) – 1/2 pack (250 g)

for the filling

  • Apples – 2 pcs. (230 g)
  • Raisins – 2 tbsp. (18 g)
  • Sugar – 2 tbsp. (24 g)
  • Butter – 1 tbsp. (14 g)

additionally

  • Eggs – 1 pc. (50 g)
  • Water – 1 tbsp. (15 g)
  • Powdered sugar

Cooking steps:

Dough

  1. Place the yeast puff pastry, thawed according to the instructions on the package, on a lightly floured surface. Roll out into a 20cm x 20cm square.
  2. Using a pizza cutter and ruler, cut the dough into four equal 10cm x 10cm squares.

Filling

  1. Peel the apples, remove the core, cut into cubes.
  2. Place apples in a large saucepan, add sugar, add raisins, add butter, stir. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, for 15 to 20 minutes, until the apples are soft and caramelized. Then remove from heat and cool slightly.

Assembly

  1. Place the eggs in a small bowl, lightly beat with a whisk, add water, and stir.
  2. Place 1 tablespoon of the apple filling without syrup on one half of the square. Brush the edges of the filled half of the square with the egg brush. Carefully connect the opposite ends of the square to form a rectangle. Seal the edges with a fork and make several slits in the top of each rectangle. Repeat with remaining squares.
  3. Place the puff pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover the baking sheet with cling film on top and leave to rise for 30-40 minutes in a warm, draft-free place. Brush the resulting puff pastries with the remaining egg brush.
  4. Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C (400⁰F) for 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven, cool slightly.
  5. Sprinkle the finished puff pastries with powdered sugar.
