To start, preheat your oven to 160°C (320⁰F). Next, peel the pears and carefully remove the cores, making sure to leave the tails intact.

TIPS: Wondering how to core pears? You can use a special apple corer or a small sharp knife to easily remove the core.

In a saucepan, pour water and add sugar and vanilla sugar. Place the saucepan on low heat and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Dip the prepared pears into the syrup and cover the saucepan with a lid. Let them cook for about 25-30 minutes until they are tender and ready.

Once the pears are cooked, remove them from the syrup and place them on a wire rack to allow any excess syrup to drain. Let them cool.

Easy Whole Pear Cake

Ingredients:

for the dough

  • Sugar – 1/4 cup (50 g)
  • Eggs – 1 pc. (50 g)
  • Flour – 1/2 cup (80 g)
  • Vanilla sugar – 1 sachet (10 g)
  • Softened butter – 1/4 cup (60 g)
  • Milk – 1/4 cup (63 g)
  • Baking powder – 1/2 tsp. (3 g)
  • Salt – 1/8 tsp. (1 pinch)

for the pears

  • Pears – 4 pcs. (850 g)
  • Sugar – 1/2 cup (100 g)
  • Vanilla sugar – 1 sachet (10 g) Water – 3 cups (750 g)

  • Powdered sugar

Cooking steps:

Pears

  1. Peel the pears, carefully remove the cores, leaving the tails. Pour water into a saucepan, add sugar and vanilla sugar, put on low heat, stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  2. Dip the prepared pears into the syrup in the saucepan. Cover the saucepan with a lid. Cook for 25-30 minutes until the pears are ready. Remove the cooked pears, place on a wire rack, allow excess syrup to drain, and cool.

Dough

  1. Place softened butter in a large bowl, add sugar, beat with a mixer at medium speed until creamy.
  2. Pour vanilla sugar, baking powder and salt into the resulting sugar-butter mixture, add eggs, mix. Add flour and milk, stirring thoroughly after each addition.

Assembly

  1. Grease 4 ramekins with a diameter of 6.5cm to 8.5cm with buter. Fill each ramekin 1/4 full with the resulting dough, lightly drown the pears in the dough.
  2. Place the ramekins in a preheated oven at 160°C (320⁰F) and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Remove the ramekins from the oven and cool slightly. Sprinkle the finished pear cakes with powdered sugar.
