  • Sugar – 2 tbsp. (24 g)
  • Softened butter – 2 tbsp. (28 g)
  • Dry yeast – 1 tsp. (5 g)
  • Salt – 1/3 tsp. (2 g)

for the filling

  • Cherries – 1 1/2 containers (750 g)
  • Eggs – 2 pcs. (100 g)
  • Greek yogurt – 4/5 cup (200 g)
  • Sugar – 1/4 cup (50 g)

Cooking steps:

Dough

  1. Pour slightly warmed milk into a bowl, add yeast and sugar, stir and leave for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Add softened butter to the yeast mixture, gradually add flour and salt, mix well.
  3. Cover the resulting dough with a kitchen towel and leave to rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.

Filling

  1. Wash the cherries and remove the pits.
  2. Place eggs in a medium bowl, beat lightly with a whisk, add sugar and yogurt, mix well.

Assembly

  1. Roll out the resulting yeast dough on a floured work surface. Transfer it with a rolling pin to a baking sheet greased with butter, and form sides.
  2. Distribute the prepared cherries evenly over the dough in one layer and pour in the yogurt mixture.
  3. Bake the cake in an oven preheated to 180°C (350°F) for 40-45 minutes.
  4. Remove from the oven, cool and cut into small squares. If desired, sprinkle generously with powdered sugar.
