how to cook Best Blueberry Custard Galette?

STEP 1

Смородиновый пирог 8

To start, preheat the oven to 200°C (400⁰F). In a bowl, combine the egg yolks, sugar, vanilla sugar, and starch. Add in the orange zest and pour in the orange juice. Mix everything together thoroughly.

TIPS: Beware of store-bought peach juice, as it may contain high levels of citric acid that can curdle your milk. To avoid this unfortunate mishap, dilute the juice with water until you’ll get the necessary amount. This way, you can enjoy your peachy concoctions without any curdling surprises.

TIPS: Want to make the orange flavor in the custard even better? Just grind some sugar with freshly grated orange zest. Trust me, it’s a game-changer!

STEP 2

TIPS: Swap out the shortbread dough with yogurt (no eggs needed!) for a delicious alternative. Try using a basic shortbread dough, or experiment with nutty or corn flour-based options.

STEP 6

Смородиновый пирог 3

Place the dough on a lightly floured work surface and divide it into two parts. Roll each part into a circle with a diameter of 25 cm. This way, you’ll get 2 galettes at once!

TIPS: For a hassle-free experience, try rolling out your shortbread dough between two sheets of parchment paper, Teflon sheets, or special silicone sheets designed specifically for rolling out dough. This method ensures that your dough won’t stick and makes the process more convenient.

STEP 7

Spread a thick layer of the cooled custard in the center of each circle, leaving a 4 cm distance from the edge.
