To begin, preheat the oven to 180°C (350⁰F). Take the apples and give them a good wash, then proceed to cut them crosswise into thin slices, making sure to include the core.

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt, and give it a good stir.

Next, take a large bowl and place the softened butter in it. Add the sugar and beat the mixture with a mixer at medium speed until it becomes creamy.

TIPS: If your butter is too hard, a few seconds in the microwave can soften it up and make it easier to whip.

TIPS: Instead of using butter, you can opt for good quality margarine. It works just as well! But keep in mind that margarine contains salt. So, you might want to reduce the amount of salt in the recipe. Just a little heads up!

Easy Apple Yogurt Cake

Ingredients:

  • Apples – 2 pcs. (200 g)
  • Flour – 1 1/2 cup (240 g)
  • Sugar – 3/4 cup (150 g)
  • Eggs – 2 pcs. (100 g)
  • Softened butter – 1/2 cup (120 g)
  • Baking soda – 1/2 tsp. (3 g)
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp. (3 g)
  • Drinkable yogurt – 1 cup (250 g)

  • Apricot jam

Cooking steps:

  1. Wash the apples and cut them crosswise into thin slices, including the core.
  2. Add flour, baking soda and salt to a medium bowl and stir.
  3. Place softened butter in a large bowl, add sugar, beat with a mixer at medium speed until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  4. Gradually add half of the flour mixture to the egg-butter mixture, then pour in yogurt, add the remaining half of the flour mixture, and mix with a mixer at low speed until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a pre-greased and floured 20cm x 20cm square baking tin. Level the top with a spatula.
  6. Place apple slices on top.
  7. Bake the cake in an oven preheated to 180°C (350⁰F) for 45-50 minutes. Leave the finished cake in the tin for 5 minutes. Remove from tin and let cool completely on a wire rack.
  8. Brush the top of the cooled cake with apricot jam.
