Now, grab the unleavened puff pastry and defrost it according to the instructions on the package. Once it’s ready, place it on a floured surface. Roll it out until it forms a square measuring 22 cm by 22 cm. If you want to be precise, you can even use a ruler.

  • Puff pastry – 1/2 pack (250 g)

for the filling

  • Tomatoes – 4 pcs. (200 g)
  • Mozzarella – 1/2 pack (100 g)
  • Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp. (14 g)
  • Salt – 1/8 tsp. (1 pinch)
  • Ground black pepper – 1/8 tsp. (1 pinch)
  • Dried basil – 1 tsp. (1 g)

Cooking steps:

Filling

  1. Cut the tomatoes into 6-8 slices.
  2. Cut the mozzarella into thin slices.

Crust

  1. Place the unleavened puff pastry, defrosted according to package instructions, onto a lightly floured surface. Roll out the sheet of puff pastry into a square measuring 22 cm by 22 cm.
  2. Form the sides of the resulting square and prick the middle with a fork. Transfer the resulting workpiece to a baking sheet previously lined with parchment paper.

Assembly

  1. Place chopped tomatoes and mozzarella on the dough in succession in a tile shape.
  2. Brush the tomatoes and cheese with vegetable oil on top, season with salt and ground black pepper, and sprinkle with dried basil.
  3. Bake the pie in an oven preheated to 200°C (400°F) for 20-25 minutes. Cool the finished pie slightly.
