TIPS: Walnuts can easily be ground using a coffee grinder or a kitchen chopper. This will save you time and effort when using them into your recipes.

Next, grate the cooled butter into the flour mixture using a coarse grater.

TIPS: Instead of using butter, you can opt for good quality margarine. It works just as well!

  • Ground cinnamon – 1/2 tsp. (1 g)
  • Vanilla sugar – 1 sachet (10 g)
  • Ground walnuts – 1/3 cup (50 g)

  • Melted dark chocolate
  • Walnuts, coarsely chopped

Cooking steps:

  1. Pour flour, sugar, vanilla sugar, ground cinnamon, ground walnuts into a large bowl and mix thoroughly.
  2. Grate the chilled butter into the flour mixture using a coarse grater. Add eggs to the resulting creamy flour mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until smooth.
  3. Form the resulting dough into a ball, wrap in cling film and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  4. Place the chilled dough on a lightly floured work surface and roll out to 5mm thickness. Using different sized cookie cutters, cut out cookies. Place cookies on a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat. Place the resulting cookies in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  5. Bake cookies in an oven preheated to 180°C (350⁰F) for 10-12 minutes. Leave the finished cookies on the baking sheet until they cool completely.
  6. Drizzle the cooled cookies with melted dark chocolate and garnish with coarsely chopped walnuts.
