Minced Meat Cabbage Roll – VIDEO RECIPE
how to cook Minced Meat Cabbage Roll?
STEP 1
To start, preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grab a large saucepan and toss in some cabbage leaves. Pour boiling water over them and let them soak for about 10 minutes.
TIPS: Instead of using regular white cabbage, why not try using Savoy cabbage? Not only does it have a unique texture, but its bright color will also add a beautiful touch to your dish.
STEP 2
Once they’re done, take out the cabbage leaves, give them a rinse with cold water, and let them cool and dry.
TIPS: When working with cabbage leaves, it’s important to rinse them with cold water. This simple step will help stop the heat treatment process and ensure that your cabbage not overcooks.
STEP 3
Now, it’s time to prep the cabbage leaves. Cut out the thick fibers from the middle of each leaf.
STEP 4
Next, peel some onions and roughly chop them up. Use an immersion blender to give them a good chop.
TIPS: If you don’t have an immersion blender, don’t worry! There are other ways to chop onions. You can use a kitchen chopper or a meat grinder to get the job done.
STEP 5
Grab a big bowl and toss in some minced chicken. Add in the chopped onions, dried garlic, eggs, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until it’s well combined.
TIPS: Instead of using dried garlic, you can opt for a small clove of fresh garlic as a substitute. To prepare it, finely chop or use a garlic press to extract its flavor.
STEP 6
Now, divide the minced meat mixture into two halves. Take one half and mix in some tomato paste until it’s all blended nicely.
STEP 7
For the other half, add in some curry powder and mix it in thoroughly.
STEP 8
Lay out half of the cabbage leaves on a sheet of foil, making sure they overlap.
STEP 9
Spread the minced meat and curry mixture evenly over the cabbage leaves.
STEP 10
Then, cover it up with the remaining cabbage leaves. On top of those, spread out the minced meat with tomato paste.
STEP 11
Using the foil, carefully roll up the cabbage leaves with the minced meat into a nice tight roll. Make sure to pinch the ends so it stays together.
STEP 12
Place the roll in a baking dish and pop it into the preheated oven at 180°C (350°F). Let it bake for about 45 minutes.
