Bacon Spinach Pasta Bake

Ingredients:

  • Cannelloni (tube-shaped pasta) – 1/3 pack (150 g)
  • Bacon strips – 2 pcs. (40 g)
  • Spinach – 1 bunch (100 g)
  • Dried garlic – 1/3 tsp. (1 g)
  • Ground nutmeg – 1/8 tsp. (1 pinch)
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp. (15 g)
  • Lemon zest – 1/2 tsp. (2 g)
  • Processed cheese – 1 package (90 g)
  • Grated cheese – 1/4 cup (25 g)
  • Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp. (14 g)

Cooking steps:

  1. Prepare the cannelloni according to the instructions on the package, reserving 1/5 cup (50 g) of the pasta cooking water.
  2. Coarsely chop the spinach leaves. Cut the bacon into squares. Cut the processed cheese into cubes.
  3. Pour a little vegetable oil into a frying pan over high heat and add chopped bacon. Fry on both sides until golden brown.
  4. Add chopped spinach leaves to the pan with the fried bacon and cook for another 1 minute over medium heat. Mix thoroughly and remove from heat.
  5. Place the fried bacon and spinach in a large bowl and season with dried garlic and nutmeg. Pour in lemon juice, add lemon zest and chopped processed cheese, stir.
  6. Add cooked cannelloni to the resulting mass, pour in the reserved pasta cooking water, and stir.
  7. Place the resulting mixture in two 15cm x 11cm square baking dishes, pre-greased with vegetable oil. Sprinkle with grated cheese on top, pour over with vegetable oil.
  8. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C (350⁰F) for 6-8 minutes.
  9. Serve the finished casserole warm, garnish with parsley leaves.
