STEP 1
To begin, preheat the oven to 200°C (400⁰F). Start by washing the strawberries and cutting off the stems. Coarsely chop the strawberries and set them aside.
TIPS: If fresh strawberries are not available, frozen ones can be used instead. Just make sure to roll them in flour to avoid any unwanted moisture in your dough.
STEP 2
In a medium bowl, combine the flour and salt, and give it a good stir.
STEP 3
In a separate large bowl, place the eggs and egg whites. Add sugar to the eggs and beat with a mixer until it becomes a fluffy pale mass.
STEP 4
Gradually add the flour mixture into the egg-sugar mixture. Slowly pour the milk while mixing at a low speed with the mixer until the dough becomes smooth.

- Sugar – 1/2 cup (100 g)
- Salt – 1/8 tsp. (1 pinch)
for the crumble topping
- Egg yolks – 1 pc. (20 g)
- Flour – 2/3 cup (105 g)
- Sugar – 3 tbsp. (36 g)
- Melted butter – 3 tbsp. (42 g)
- Salt – 1/8 tsp. (1 pinch)

- Powdered sugar
- Strawberry
Cooking steps:
- Coarsely chop the strawberries.
- Add flour and salt to a medium bowl and stir.
- Place eggs and egg whites in a large bowl, add sugar, beat with a mixer into a fluffy pale mass.
- Put the flour mixture into the egg-sugar mixture, slowly pour in the milk, mix with a mixer at low speed until smooth.
Crumble topping
- Place flour into a medium bowl, add sugar and salt, mix.
- Add the egg yolks into the flour mixture, pour in the melted butter, and mix with a fork until crumbly.
Assembly
- Place half of the strawberries in the bottom of a 18cm pre-greased round ceramic pan. Carefully pour the dough on top of the strawberries.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400⁰F) for 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven. Place the remaining strawberries on top of the dough and distribute the crumble topping evenly.
- Bake in an oven preheated to 200°C (400⁰F) for 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven, cool slightly
- Sprinkle the finished cake with powdered sugar and decorate with strawberries.
