how to cook Easy Thick Vanilla Custard?
STEP 1
To create a tasty custard cream, begin by combining sugar and vanilla sugar in a medium-sized bowl. Add cornstarch and eggs, ensuring a thorough mixing of the ingredients.
TIPS: It’s crucial to blend the eggs, starch, and sugar together properly to avoid curdling when you add the hot milk.
STEP 2
Next, pour milk into a saucepan and place it on a stove, allowing it to come to a gentle boil.
STEP 3
Take one-third of the hot milk and swiftly pour it into the egg mixture, stirring vigorously.
TIPS: While you’re stirring away, make sure to pour the milk into the saucepan slowly to prevent those eggs from curdling.
STEP 4
Now, return the resulting mixture back into the saucepan, combining it with the remaining milk.
TIPS: Keep the fire temperature at a nice, average level to avoid burning that creamy goodness.
STEP 5
Set the saucepan over medium heat and cook the mixture while continuously stirring. Be careful not to let it boil. After about 4 minutes, the mixture will thicken to perfection.
STEP 6
To achieve a smooth texture, strain the custard through a sieve and allow it to cool slightly.
TIPS: If you want your custard to be super smooth with no lumps, give it a strain through a sieve.
STEP 7
To prevent a film from forming on the surface, cover the finished custard with cling film, ensuring it comes into contact with the cream. Place it in the refrigerator until it reaches a delightful coolness.
STEP 8
This Easy Thick Vanilla Custard can be used as a tasty filling for cakes, pies, and various pastries. Alternatively, it can be savored as a delightful dessert on its own.
