Easy German Apple Cake – VIDEO RECIPE
how to cook Easy German Apple Cake?
STEP 1
To begin, preheat the oven to 180°C (350⁰F). Take the apples, give them a good wash, remove the core, and slice them thinly.
TIPS: Wondering how to core apples? You can use a special apple corer or a small sharp knife to easily remove the core.
STEP 2
In a medium-sized bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Give it a good stir to ensure everything is well mixed.
STEP 3
Next, take a large bowl and place the softened butter in it. Add sugar and vanilla sugar to the bowl, then beat the mixture with a mixer at medium speed until it becomes creamy.
TIPS: If your butter is too hard, a few seconds in the microwave can soften it up and make it easier to whip.
TIPS: Instead of using butter, you can opt for good quality margarine. It works just as well! But keep in mind that margarine contains salt. So, you might want to reduce the amount of salt in the recipe. Just a little heads up!
STEP 4
Now, it’s time to add the eggs to the sugar-butter mixture. Mix thoroughly until everything is well combined.
STEP 5
Gradually add half of the flour mixture to the egg-butter mixture. Pour in the milk and then add the remaining half of the flour mixture. Mix everything together using a mixer at low speed until the dough becomes smooth.
STEP 6
Take a round 20cm baking tin and grease it with butter. Sprinkle some flour on top. Pour the prepared dough into the tin and use a spatula to smooth the top.
STEP 7
Arrange the apple slices in a circle on top of the dough.
STEP 8
Place the tin with the dough in the preheated oven at 180°C (350⁰F) and bake for 35-40 minutes until it turns a beautiful golden brown.
TIPS: Looking for some helpful advice on how to preheat your oven and prepare it for baking? Look no further than my articles “How and Why Do You Need to Preheat Oven” and “Top 7 Secrets How to Bake in Oven”.
STEP 9
Once the cake is done, let it cool in the tin for 5 minutes. Then, carefully remove it from the tin.
TIPS: Wondering if your cake is ready? Stick a wooden stick or toothpick into the center – if it comes out clean, your cake is done.
STEP 10
In a small bowl, combine powdered sugar and ground cinnamon. Give it a good stir.
STEP 11
Brush the top of the hot cake with melted butter.
TIPS: Melt your butter either on the stove or in the microwave – whichever is more convenient for you.
TIPS: If you find it difficult to spread melted butter over the cake, try using a silicone pastry brush. It makes the task much easier and more efficient.
STEP 12
Then sprinkle the cinnamon mixture over it.
STEP 13
Finally, dust the finished cake with powdered sugar.
STEP 14
Now, it’s time to cut Easy German Apple Cake into equal pieces and serve it alongside a warm cup of tea. Enjoy your meal!

Hello!
Super tasty cake. I do it a second time, but it doesn’t rise?!
I thought the problem was in unheated milk, but it still doesn’t rise.
Have you ever had this problem?
Hello! Most likely the problem is with the baking powder. Perhaps it is weak, then you need to put it 2 times more. It is best to look at the package to see how much baking powder the manufacturer recommends adding to a certain amount of flour. Or maybe the baking powder has already lost its effect.
Old baking powder is easy to check following these instructions.
Or you can make baking powder yourself at home from just 2 ingredients.
I baked it today. Very tasty Thanks for the recipe.
You’re welcome!
