Next, place the cherries in a saucepan and add sugar and cornstarch. Stir the mixture and place it over medium heat. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and add cherry jam. Stir the mixture and allow it to cool.

In a small bowl, pour sugar and melted butter. Add 3 tablespoons (45g) of juice from the thawed cherries and stir well.

  • Sugar – 2 tbsp. (24 g)
  • Corn starch – 1 tbsp. (8 g)
  • Cherry jam – 1/3 cup (100 g)

for the syrup

  • Sugar – 1/2 cup (100 g)
  • Melted butter – 1 tbsp. (14 g)

for the icing

  • Powdered sugar – 3/4 cup (150 g)
  • Milk – 2 tbsp. (30 g)

Cooking steps:

Filling

  1. Place completely thawed cherries in a sieve, collect the juice in one bowl, and the cherries in another bowl.
  2. Place cherries in a saucepan, add sugar and cornstarch, stir. Place over medium heat, cook for 3-4 minutes with constant stirring. Remove from heat, add cherry jam, stir, cool.

Syrup

  3. Place the resulting rolls in a pre-greased baking pan, cut side up. Cover the pan with cling film, and leave to rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (350⁰F) for 20 minutes. Pour cherry syrup over the rolls and let cool slightly.

Icing

  1. Place powdered sugar into a small bowl, add milk, mix thoroughly until smooth.
  2. Pour the icing over finished rolls.
