This delightful sweet treat, made with milk, eggs, and butter, turns out light and incredibly tender.
It is a delightful delicacy often enjoyed by French families with a cup of hot tea.
This Clafoutis with plums boasts a delicate texture and a delightful plum aroma.

Traditionally, Clafoutis is made with aromatic cherries, and heavy cream is often added to the batter.
In French recipe whole cherries with pits place in a baking dish.
Then the fragrant batter is poured over cherries.
Finally, the cake is baked until golden brown.

However, in this version of the French delicacy I use plums, milk, and butter instead of cherries and heavy cream.
But nevertheless, this cake turns out exceptionally delicious and tender.
The addition of butter gives the cake a velvety texture and a rich creamy taste.

how to cook Best Easy Plum Clafoutis?
STEP 1

To start, preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Give the plums a good wash, then cut them in half lengthwise. Remove the pits, and slice each half into 4 pieces.
TIPS: Frozen plums can be a great substitute for fresh ones in this recipe.
STEP 2

Next, grab a large bowl and crack in the eggs. Give them a light whisking, then add in the sugar and vanilla sugar. Don’t forget a pinch of salt! Mix everything together until it’s well combined.
STEP 3

Now it’s time to add the flour to the egg-sugar mixture. Slowly pour in the milk and melted butter, while stirring, until you have a smooth dough.
TIPS: Melt your butter either on the stove or in the microwave – whichever is more convenient for you.
STEP 4

Take a 22 cm baking dish and grease it with butter. Arrange the sliced plums in a single layer on the bottom of the dish.
TIPS: For baking clafoutis, use a low baking dish. If you’re using a taller baking dish, you’ll need to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
TIPS: When making clafoutis, use a glass or ceramic baking dish. Metal baking tin can cause the berries in the cake to oxidize.
STEP 5

Pour the dough over the plums, making sure it covers them evenly.
STEP 6

Pop the dish into the preheated to 180°C (350°F) oven and let it bake for around 40-45 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when the cake turns golden brown.

It didn’t work with frozen plums. The result was dough boiled in plum syrup
Sara,I am very sorry that this cake didn’t work out for you. Typically, clafoutis looks like a fluffy and airy sweet omelette with fruit.
The oven may not have been preheated enough. How and why you need to preheat the oven can be read in my article.
